Track Championship Results are in!

Thursday 26th September saw the last of the series of 3 race nights at Willesden Sports Centre, completing the 2024 Club Track Championships.

6 QPH runners on the 800m start line - just setting off (some are starting their watches)

Since the pandemic, track events at the club have been few and far between, but this year has seen a concerted effort to bring track racing back to the club - and all 3 nights were fantastic experience for everyone involved. Whilst the club is known as a longer distance running club over the last few years, it was great to see runners focusing on shorter distances and getting to understand what's involved in a race when the laps are shorter than 5km. Ruben Carvajal showed us what's possible when you concentrate on the shorter distances, with his focussed training and hard work enabling him to bring home 1st in both 800m and 1500m 40-49 Men with the fastest overall times, whilst Yusr Yasin took 1st place in Senior Men in both 3000m and 1500m, the latter less than 2 seconds ahead of Robert Duggleby. The 800's saw the closest finish though, with Mahamat Ahmat fighting off an impressive late surge from Peter Reupke to beat him by less than 3 tenths of a second.

Whilst the men outnumbered the women on track, the efforts and times were no less impressive, Ellie Keable taking both the 3000m and 1500m Senior Women's titles in commanding style.

Congratulations to everyone involved, runners, timekeepers and supporters alike. Here's to an even bigger and better series of events next year.
