Summer League #4: Gunnersbury Park

Well the final Summer League season saw a new venue added at Gunnersbury Park. It was warm. It was dry. Did I mention it was actually England in August? Katheryn Harrington escaped decorating at home on her birthday to eat cake (she also ran very well too!) Happy Birthday!!! Just to prove its not the same old faces a few new members have been talked into running. I am sure the mention of cake assisted... 26 Harriers and 2 guests competed. 22 Seniors and 2 boys and 2 girls in the tenderfoots.

Sam Sutherland zoomed round the course to finish 3rd and was the first Harrier home and only lapped me once, with Nick Stallman finishing 13, Richard Ettenfield 22, Tanasheh Abrahams 24, Alex Johnson making his debut 32, Jamie Galal 39, Maurice Quirke 42, Alban Millas 58, Charles Tatham 79, James Walerych 114, Adrian Boylan making his debut at summer league 120, Alan Lawrenson taking a stroll in the park after his recent escapades finished 122, John Walerych 151. Our 2 guest finshed in very creditable positions too: Kerr Miller 2 Tavi Cocis 121 The ladies although outnumbered gave a fine showing: Emily Godwin 55 - (The exhuberence of youth ) Katheryn Harrington 78 Emma Jones 96 Louise Hinshelwood 115 Jo Braine 116 Amanda Martin 143 Susan Kennedy 144 still continuing their conversation as they overtook me at the half way mark..!!! Sofia Ali making her debut 183 Tenderfoots Excellent runs by all 4 participants Owen Quin 1 Alex Quin a close second Charlotte Tatham 3 Elizabeth Tatham 12 The Relays saw us aim to consolidate our reputation in these events, with Sophie Barnard making sure we had competitive teams in all 4 relays and coach Gildas encouraging all participants with fellow Harriers around the 400-ish circuit cheering everybody on. We finished first in the Ladies and Mens relay races and first in B1 and being pipped to first place in the B2 relay (Yes I was running in that one)

There was still cake at the end so the Harriers were amongst the last to leave the park. Well that the summer league finished for this year 10k times based on the event clock are below. There are a few team road races in the autumn which we have competed in the past although I notice that the Moor Park 10k clashes with the Ealing Half We wish Bill a speedy recovery and get well card has been sent to him.
